Trial Set For January For NE Texas Woman Accused Of Killing Boyfriend

A Northeast Texas woman accused of fatally shooting her boyfriend will go on trial for murder next month in Bowie County. Reportedly, 40-year-old Tonya Ruth Barnett originally told deputies she killed Cecil Ellis, Jr., of Magnolia Arkansas, in self-defense. She was charged with manslaughter at her arrest, but after further investigation, a grand jury indicted her for murder.
