No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs asserted their dominance from the onset. Then, they sucked the storybook ending right out from under No. 3 TCU with a 65-7 win in the College Football Playoff National Championship at SoFi Stadium on Monday night. In a game that featured two Heisman Trophy finalist quarterbacks, Georgia’s Stetson Bennett piled onto his legacy before an announced crowd of 72,628, leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back national titles for the first time since Alabama accomplished the feat following the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

The Tigers move up to No. 8 in the state rankings and travel to Pine Tree to face the Pirates. Freshmen will tip off at 5:00 pm in the old high school gym. JV starts at 5:30 in the Pirate Center, and the Varsity will follow at 7:00 pm. There will be three girls’ basketball games at Mt Pleasant Tuesday against Pine Tree beginning at 4:30.
Sulphur Springs Wildcats are removing the band-aides after Anna beat them up 60-54 last Friday. However, they face another top-25 team Tuesday at Dallas Pinkston. Sulphur Springs is ranked No. 8 in 4A. another tough match-up on the road on Tuesday.
