President Donald Trump planned to present one of the nation’s highest civilian honors to Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots football coach and the only coach to win six Super Bowl titles. Belichick says no thanks, pointing to last Wednesday’s Trump supporter’s storm in the Capitol.

They postponed the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans game on Monday. Add to that the Celtics-Bulls game Tuesday, and the reason is COVID.
PGA
The PGA of America cut ties to President Donald Trump when it voted Sunday to take the PGA Championship event away from his New Jersey golf course next year. The vote comes four days after the Trump-fueled riot at the nation’s Capital as Congress was certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory. The second time in just over five years, the PGA of America removed one of its events from a Trump course.
NCAA
It was the final game of a college football season in a pandemic, and it ended most predictably: Alabama (13-0) as the national champion for the sixth time in the last 12 years. No. 1 Alabama won the College Football Playoff national championship game 52-24 against No. 3 Ohio State on Monday night.
They canceled the Baylor men’s basketball home game against West Virginia scheduled for Tuesday per Big 12 Conference men’s basketball interruption guidelines. West Virginia was unable to meet the required COVID-19 thresholds. The No. 2-ranked Bears next game is at 3:00 pm Saturday at No. 18 Texas Tech on ESPN.
HIGH SCHOOL
The Mount Pleasant Tiger basketball team played two games over the weekend, hosting Marshall on Friday evening and had a quick turnaround at Pine Tree on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers brought home two victories to improve their overall record to 15-0 and move into sole possession of first place in District 15-5A at 4-0, with Sulphur Springs and Hallsville dropping games. Today, Sulphur Springs hots the Mt Pleasant Tigers. Sulphur Springs has a minimal number of tickets for fans to purchase online through the Sulphur Springs ISD’s website.
