Two Dead In Separate East Texas Crashes

Troopers responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash southwest of Coffee City. A preliminary crash investigation shows that 58-year-old Caesar Samuel Smith, of LaRue, drove off the road, struck a tree and overturned. Smith was transported to UT Health–Tyler where he died.

State Troopers are investigating a fatal East Texas vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. Initial reports indicate that 39-year-old Alan Cleaver, of Flint, attempted to cross the road to pick up his mail when he was struck by 57-year-old Jonathan Wesley Bass, also of Flint. Cleaver was pronounced dead at ETMC-Tyler.
