Two Dead In Separate East Texas Crashes

State Troopers responded to a major crash  just before 1pm Tuesday afternoon in the 11000 block of FM 195 in Lamar County after the driver of a Chevy pickup drifted into oncoming traffic and collided head on with two vehicles .  The driver of the Chevy, 80 year old Victor Lawler of Broken Bow was pronounced dead at the scene.  59-year-old Larry Briscoe of Powderly was flown to Plano in critical condition.  56-year-old Phillip Bettis of Blossom was not injured.

One person was killed in a single vehicle accident in Wood County. State Troopers say a driver on FM 14 near Hawkins attempted to pass another vehicle, lost control, hit a guardrail and ended up side down in a creek bed.  68 year old Rita Schaff of Holly Lake Ranch was transported to Christus  Mother Frances where she was pronounced dead. Her passenger, 70 year old David Schaff was hospitalized in undisclosed condition.
