Two Dead In Van Zandt County Crash

At 7:50 Sunday evening, Troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on US 80, approximately 2.5 miles east of Fruitvale. The driver of a 2021 Hyundai Sonata was traveling eastbound on US 80, crossed the center stripe, and struck a westbound 2021 Freightliner truck towing a trailer. The crash ejected the Hyundai driver, and the vehicle came to rest facing north in the westbound lane. The Freightliner came to rest in the south ditch area of US 80. Judge Wade McMillian pronounced both drivers at the scene. The Hyundai driver was Marc Italia, 61, and the driver of the Freightliner was Wanda Jane Lewis, 58, both of Dallas.
