Two East Texas Inmates Die

Two East Texas inmates have died while in custody at county jails.   47 year old Jay McEvers of Canton was found unresponsive in his single occupancy cell at the Van Zandt County jail and was later pronounced dead. Wood County jailers discovered 69 year old Robert Sharp of Holly Lake Ranch unresponsive in his cell. He was transported to a hospital in Quitman and then flown to a Tyler hospital where he died The investigations are being conducted by the Texas Rangers and the cause of the men’s  deaths  are pending autopsy results.
