Four Fatal Crashes

Last Friday morning at 1:03, there was a two-vehicle fatal crash on US 80, approximately 0.5 miles west of Hallsville in Harrison County. The driver of a 2003 Dodge Neon, Valerie Helena Graves, 20, of Bossier City LA, was traveling, for an unknown reason, east on the wrong side of the road and struck a 2018 GMC Sierra that was traveling in the westbound lane. Judge Mike Smith pronounced Graves at the scene. The driver of the GMC was Brice Leighton Cooper, 18, of Longview. They transported Cooper to Christus Good Shepherd–Longview in stable condition.

Last Friday afternoon at 4:30, there was a fatal crash on CR 334, approximately 3.5 miles south of Tyler. The driver of a 2015 Dodge Ram was traveling north on CR 344 at an unsafe speed. The driver entered a sharp right curve in the roadway, lost control, exited the road, and struck a tree. Judge Andy Dunklin pronounced the unrestrained driver, Mark William Threlkeld, 30, of Lindale, at the scene.

Sunday night at 8:00, there was a fatal crash on CR 1309, approximately four miles north of Rusk. The driver of a 2000 Dodge Ram, Jonathan Chad Walker, 40, of Rusk, traveled southeast on CR 1309 at an unsafe speed when it entered a left-hand curve. The vehicle went off the roadway to the south and struck a tree. The crash ejected the driver, and Judge Brenda Dominy pronounced Walker at the scene.

At 10:50 Sunday morning, there was a fatal crash on SH 64 W, approximately one mile west of Tyler. The driver of a 1999 Chevrolet van was traveling east on SH 64 W. when for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway to the right and struck a stationary piece of road construction equipment. Judge John Johnson pronounced the driver, Roberto Acosta Lugo, 52, of Tyler, at the scene.
