Two People Killed Near Garrison

Friday at approximately 8:49 am, troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on US-59 in Rusk County, one mile south of the city of Garrison. The preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 2003 Mack truck towing a trailer loaded with logs was traveling southbound on US-59 in the outside lane, driven by Christopher Wayne Harville, 35, of Converse, LA. Harville was behind a 2004 Ford F-150 driven by Ozine Roberts, 81, of Garrison. Roberts slowed to make a right turn on CR-3286. Harville failed to control his speed, striking the rear of the Ford causing it to spin and leave the west side of the roadway. The Ford came to rest in the ditch. The Mack truck and trailer veered right also leaving the road and entered into the woods approximately one hundred yards south of CR-3286. The 18-wheer struck several trees and caught fire, coming to rest in the woods. JP Joe Sorrels pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.
