Two Separate Fatal Accidents – One Claims Paris Woman’s Life

Friday morning at 2:00, there was a one-vehicle fatal crash on US-259 in Rusk County. It was five miles south of Henderson. Reportedly, the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet 1500, Lecia Beshirs Allen, 48, of Paris TX, was traveling north on US-259 in the outside lane of traffic. The driver veered slightly off of the road to the right, steered back onto the roadway and then overcorrected back to the right causing the vehicle to travel through the east ditch in a side skid. The car flipped and struck a group of trees coming to rest in the east ditch facing north. Allen, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected. She was transported to Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler where she later died Saturday. Judge Shamburger pronounced her, and she was taken to Bright-Holland Funeral Home in Paris, Texas.

Monday morning at approximately 12:30, Troopers responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash on IH-20 in Smith County, three miles west of the city of Lindale. Preliminary crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2014 Dodge Ram, Michael Allen Hokerk, 30, of Quinlan, was traveling westbound on IH-20 when for an undetermined reason, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Judge Cowart pronounced Hokerk dead at the scene and transported to Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
