TxDOT Paris Loop 286

TxDOT

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that contractor Richard Drake Construction will begin entrance and exit ramp repairs at FM 195 along Loop 286 in Paris on Tuesday (Apr 26), weather permitting.

This mill and overlay work will strip away the existing roadway surface and then install a new surface, making the road smoother and safer for motorists, officials said.

The contractor has completed work on ramps at US 82 East and Loop 286 and anticipates moving the work to FM 195 soon. Contractor crews will work on one ramp at a time at each remaining location before proceeding to another ramp or place. The affected ramps will be closed to traffic during daytime hours, but re-opened for traffic at night.

The repairs/closures remaining in this project include:

1) Loop 286 and FM 195: along FM 195 from East Hickory Street to Spur 139; southwest off-ramp (Nicholson Outdoor Power, Wholesale Electrical Supply).

2) Loop 286 and US 271 North (Main Street): northwest on-ramp (Budget Inn); southwest off-ramp (Atwood); northeast off-ramp (Mobil gas station); southeast on-ramp (Whataburger).

3) Loop 286 and FM 79: southeast on-ramp (Skinners).

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes while this work is underway, remain alert for warning signs, and obey all traffic controls at these locations. Drivers should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems when driving.

Officials expect the work completed in three weeks, weather permitting.
