Tyler ISD Board Votes to Change Names of Two High Schools

Tyler ISD’s Board of Trustees held a special meeting Thursday night and voted 7–0 to change Robert E. Lee and John Tyler High Schools’ names. In the future, they will not name the schools after people. A school facility may use names after any patriotic belief, principled ideals, values, desired qualities, or aspired outcomes for District students or the community.
