The UIL has moved to improve player safety by requiring high school football coaches in the state to take a tackling certification course. As of earlier this week, over 3,000 coaches had signed up for the ATAVUS Football tackle program being offered at coaching school. Clinics will be offered around the state as well as online, and coaches must be certified by Aug. 1, 2019.
