UIL State Executive Committee Meeting Results
AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.
A student-athlete from Denton Guyer High School was denied an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committee.
UIL placed El Paso Eastwood High School boys soccer on two years probation, and El Paso Eastwood soccer coach Omar Morin received a public reprimand and a two-year probation.
UIL issued Grapevine High School head girls golf coach Bryan Humphreys one-year probation and a public reprimand. Two student-athletes from Grapevine High School were ruled ineligible for the regional golf tournament for violating rules related to practice rounds on the course.
The UIL issued the following schools, penalties for fighting with opponents:
Case AA – Kaufman vs. Terrell (Boys Soccer)
Kaufman head coach Jonathan Batres and Terrell’s head coach Joe Stephens were both issued two years probation and a public reprimand.
Five Kaufman student-athletes and two Terrell student-athletes received an additional two-game suspension.
The UIL issued both teams two years probation and a public reprimand.
Case BB – Brownsville Lopez vs. Donna North (Boys Basketball)
Brownsville Lopez head coach Neil Schuster and Donna North head coach Jose Perez were both issued two years probation and a public reprimand.
The UIL will issue student-athlete suspensions after reviewing the game film. Involved student-athletes will receive a two-game suspension.
Both teams received two years probation and a public reprimand.
Case CC – Hughes Springs vs. Queen City (JV Boys Basketball)
Hughes Springs head coach Ray Jack and Queen City head coach Austin Wasson were both issued two years probation and a public reprimand.
The UIL suspended one student-athlete from Queen City High School from any UIL activity until appearing before the State Executive Committee.
Both teams received two years probation and a public reprimand.
Case FF – Denison vs. Wichita Falls (Boys Basketball)
Denison head coach Dale Rhodes and Wichita Falls head coach Scott Davenport were both issued two years probation and a public reprimand.
The UIL gave all Wichita Falls High School junior varsity student-athletes involved an additional one-game suspension served next basketball season.
Both teams received two years probation and a public reprimand.
