UIL To Release Realignment Numbers Plus The Seahawks Win MNF In Today’s Sports Update

The UIL will announce the conference cutoff numbers and preliminary enrollment figures for the 2020-2022 reclassification and realignment this morning at 830. It is suspected that North Lamar could drop to 4A division 2 while Paris High would remain in division 1.

A reminder of this week’s playoff schedule: Paul Pewitt takes on Daingerfield in round four of the playoffs Friday night at 7:30 pm at Mt Pleasant. The game will be broadcast on STAR Country 96.9 and online at easttexasradio.com. Also Friday, Gilmer will take on Pleasant Grove at 7:00 pm at Longview Lobo Stadium.

Tonight on the basketball court, the North Lamar Pantherettes will host Prairiland. Other girl’s actions will have Chisum hosting Bells, Cooper traveling to Celeste, CHESS at Rivercrest, Clarksville at home against Miller’s Grove, Campbell at Honey Grove, and Detroit at Savoy.

On the boy’s side of the Paris Wildcats take on Sulphur Springs on the road. The Panthers travel to Mt Pleasant, Chisum hosts Paul Pewitt, Prairiland is at Wolfe City, Cooper hosts Celeste, Rivercrest is st Champ, Clarksville hosts Liberty Eylau, Campbell is at Honey Grove, and Detroit at Savoy.

Texas A&M University-Commerce forward Juliana Louis received the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. It is the first Player of the Week award of her Lion career, and the third the Lions have won in the first month of the season.

In Monday night Football, the flu-ridden Seattle Seahawks outscored the Vikings 37-30. Six Seahawks were listed on the final injury report of the week with an illness.

The Dallas Mavericks will be in New Orleans tonight to take on the Pelicans. Pelicans rookie forward Zion Williamson is still out after having arthroscopic knee surgery prior to the season.

And the Dallas Stars will try to stop a three-game losing streak tonight in Winnipeg. Puck drops at 7:00 pm.

Infielder Mike Moustakas and the Cincinnati Reds are in agreement on a four-year deal worth $64 million. Moustakas, who turned 31 in September, was a free agent for the third straight offseason after earning $18.7 million in a pair of one-year deals. The Reds plan to play Moustakas at second base. 

The final College Football Playoff Poll before all the conference championship games will be released tonight. Among all of those conference showdowns, the Georgia-LSU SEC Championship game will get the most scrutiny.

The College AP Basketball is out and Louisville is the new No. 1, Kansas is No. 2, Maryland is 3rd, Michigan is 4th, Virginia is No. 5 Ohio State is No. 6, North Carolina is 7th, Kentucky is 8th, Gonzaga 9th and Duke is 10th. Baylor is now at No. 18.
