United Way Of Lamar County Opens Registration

PARIS, Texas — The United Way of Lamar County announced that registration for this year’s Kids Marathon opens on Tuesday, February 28 at  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/united-way-kids-marathon-2023-tickets-558258976627.

The Kids Marathon is open to all kids in Lamar County in grades K-6 and is entirely free. The Kick-Off event is on Tuesday, March 21, at 5:00 pm at the Trail de Paris, Love Civic Center entrance, where everyone will run the first mile of the marathon together. Kids will receive a free marathon t-shirt and their running log.

Everyone comes back together to run the last mile of the marathon together at the Finale on Tuesday, May 9, from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at the Trail de Paris. As runners cross the finish line, they will receive their medals.

“We love this event because it encourages kids and their families to adopt a healthy, physically active lifestyle. The best part is watching the kids smile as they run, and they are just beaming with confidence,” says Executive Director of the United Way, Jenny Wilson.

Wilson adds, “this year, we are entering all kids who register into a drawing for a $100 Hibbett’s gift card, which we hope will make it even more exciting.” (You must participate in the Finale to win).
