United Way Of Lamar County’s Day Of Action A Huge Success

The United Way of Lamar County is proud to announce that the 2018 Day of Action was a great success!  Saturday, June 9, 33 volunteers came out to the New Hope Center of Paris to paint, weed, move furniture, and build shelves.
Executive Director of the United Way of Lamar County Jenny Wilson said “It is so amazing to see such a diverse group of volunteers come together to make a difference. I just want to thank all the selfless, dedicated volunteers that worked so hard on Saturday. I especially want to thank the very large group that came from The Results Co. and the volunteers from Honda.”
Donations for the new workout rooms are still needed. Exercise equipment such as treadmills, stair masters, and stationary bikes are welcome (no free weights). Tanteta Scott, Executive Director of the New Hope Center transitional homeless shelter explains, “This workout room will promote family time, reduce stress, offer serenity and impact the resident’s overall health.
The  Day of Action is an annual United Way event in June each year that mobilizes the caring power of volunteers to create positive change in their communities.  Last year’s event included 450 United Ways in 19 countries world.
Wilson adds, “We are already looking at what next year’s Day of Action might be.  We are hoping that one of our partner agencies will again have a project that the community can all pitch in and accomplish in one UNITED day.”
