Upcoming Productions for Sulphur Community Players

Opening this coming weekend–four performances starring two different couples in A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters, the story of childhood friends Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner. Their lifelong correspondence begins when both are children with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards. The pair continues to communicate throughout their lives, and the final letter shows how much they really meant, and gave to, each other over the years—physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.

Two sets of couples will perform the roles of Andy and Melissa–Mary & Greg Duncan (Saturday 7pm & Sun 2pm shows) and Susan & James Hall (Friday 7pm and Saturday 2pm shows).

Performances will be:

• Friday, January 20 at 7:00 p.m.;
• Saturday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m.;
• Saturday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m., and
• Sunday, January 22 at 2:00 p.m.

Opening Friday, January 27 is Miss Civilization, the hilarious story of a young woman who matches wits with three burglars attempting to rob her house. This show features Grace Mansfield, Haydn Cummings, Sorin Gonzalez, Cody Lee, and Jeannie Perkins.

Performances will be:

• Friday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m.;
• Saturday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m., and
• Sunday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m.

Community Players, Inc. will hold open auditions for Melodies of Broadway at Main Street Theatre, 225 Main St., Sulphur Springs, Texas, from 7:00-9:00pm on January 30 & 31, 2023.

PERFORMANCES: March 10-12, 17-19, 24-26, 2023. Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:00pm and Sundays @ 2:00pm.

ROLES AVAILABLE: Anyone age 16 and up.

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring a list of 3 Disney songs that you feel BEST highlight your voice. Be prepared to sing 32 bars of ONE of those songs. There will NOT be an audition pianist. Please bring pre-recorded accompaniment tracks. A speaker and an auxiliary cord for your device will be provided. A capella auditions will not be accepted.

Bring your current HEADSHOT and RESUME. Professional headshots are not required. You can take one with your phone in front of a solid background. If you DO NOT have a headshot and/or resume, don’t let that stop you! COME AND AUDITION! Prior stage experience is NOT necessary.
