UPDATE Hopkins County Teen Dead, Suspect In Custody

One teenager is dead and another in custody following a fatal shooting last night in the South Liberty Community of Hopkins County. The 911 Dispatcher received a call at about 6:30 that shots had been fired, and the caller was advised to go to the EMS substation in Arbala, where the gunshot victim could be transported to Christus Mother Frances in Sulphur Springs. The victim 18-year-old Tyrese O’Neal Pryor was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation led to the identification of a suspect, and a SWAT team was dispatched to a residence on CR1185 where 17-year-old Gavin Heath Gilbert was arrested. He was charged with one count of murder and four counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. There were no other injuries. Bond was set at a $2 million on the murder charge and $500,000 each on the Agg Assault charges. Texas Ranger John Vance is assisting the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office CID  with the investigation.
