UPDATE – Lamar County Drowning Victim Identified

A teenager drowned Saturday afternoon while swimming in Pat Mayse Lake in Lamar County. 15 year old Michael Self, a freshman at North Lamar High School,  and his friend were reportedly swimming across the lake towards a wooded area when Self went under and didn’t resurface. Law enforcement, fire-rescue and game wardens responded to the scene and Self’s  body was recovered by the Paris Dive Team shortly before 8pm after it was located by sonar.
