UPDATE – One Dead, Four Injured In Upshur County Crash

On June 3, 2016 troopers responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on SH-154 six miles west of the city of Gilmer in Upshur County.  Preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 2013 Kia Soul was traveling west on SH-164.   A 1991 Chevrolet 1500 was traveling east on SH-154 in the westbound lane.  The driver of the Kia veered left to avoid a collision at which time the Chevrolet veered right.  The vehicles struck.

The driver of the Kia was identified as Bailee Russell, 17 years-old of Holly Lake Ranch.  A passenger in her vehicle was identified as Haley Johnson, 19 years-old of Big Sandy.  Johnson was pronounced dead a the scene by JP Rhonda Welch, her body was taken to Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.  Another passenger in the vehicle was identified as Cameron Johnson, 17 years-old of Big Sandy.  Mr. Johnson was taken to Longview Regional Hospital, Longview.   Another passenger in the vehicle was identified as Alecia Allen, 17 years-old of Gilmer.  Ms. Allen was taken to Good Shepard Hospital in Longview.

The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Robert Frazier, 23 years-old of Gilmer.  Mr. Frazier was taken to Longview Region Hospital as a result of the crash.
