The Sixth Court of Appeals has upheld the murder conviction and sentence of an Upshur County man. A court sentenced 43-year-old Carlton Grant in 2018 to Life In Prison without parole for the murder of 24-year-old Rachel Rhoades of Longview. After choking Rhodes with a wire, he then beat her to death. After that, he drove her to a field near Diana and set her body on fire. His co-defendant, Lindsey McFadden, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping.
