Paris, Texas – Saturday, November 11 marks the anniversary of the end of World War I and honors United States veterans and victims of all wars. The brave men and women who have served and those currently serving will be honored throughout the week at North Lamar Independent School District. Veterans, active military personnel, and the community are invited to attend any or all programs.
On Tuesday, November 7, North Lamar High School will have a coffee reception for veterans and guests at 8:00 a.m. in the NLHS library followed by a patriotic program in the gym at 9:30 a.m. Keynote speaker will be Gary Gentry. The award-winning NLHS band and choir will perform selections depicting our country’s pride and loyalty. Beta students will honor those men and women who have served or currently serve in our armed forces in a pinning ceremony.
On Thursday, November 9, Aaron Parker Elementary will honor veterans at an annual Veterans Day program beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the gym. The keynote speaker will be Mike Ford. Students will honor military personnel in a pinning ceremony. Following the program, veterans and guests are invited to stay for a Thanksgiving lunch that will begin at11:00 a.m. Parents and grandparents may also enjoy accompanying their child or grandchild to the book fair that will be held in the library.
Everett Elementary will host a breakfast for veterans and active members of the military on Friday, November 10 at 8:45 a.m. in the library. A program honoring veterans and those currently serving in the United States Armed Forces will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the gym.
