VP Kamala Harris
Border business leaders hope Vice President Kamala Harris’s visit to El Paso tomorrow will lead to a change in policy. Monica Weisberg-Stewart with the Texas Border Coalition says their economy has been devastated by a ban on non-essential trade and travel coming in from Mexico. The border was shut down for shoppers during COVID to prevent the spread of the virus. But even after the vaccines became available, it remains closed until at least the end of July. The coalition says it’s unfair that Mexican nationals can fly into the U.S. but cannot drive over the border to visit.
