Visit Beaver's Bend
Just outside of Broken Bow Oklahoma is the Beavers Bend area and the awe-inspiring Beavers Bend State Park with its rolling hills and vistas overlooking crystal clear lakes and streams. Nestled throughout this magnificent landscape are over 1,000 cabins available for rent from small and quaint to large enough for multiple families.
A couple of our favorites are Whisperwind Cabin, a two bedroom with privacy yet so close to everything. It’s got the woodsy, peaceful setting you are looking for and it’s very close to Beavers Bend State Park & Marina, Broken Bow Lake, Cedar Creek Golf Course, and Hochatown.
Beavers Bend Experience is also a favorite with several cabins to choose from. If your plans are to take off for a weekend we recommend staying at The Hochatown Lodge and relaxing over their complimentary breakfast.
Hochatown is a quaint little community that is technically a part of the city of Broken Bow. The original town had to relocate in the 1960’s when they built a dam to form Broken Bow lake and the original town is now under water. This little community has a fun-loving spirit and has redesigned themselves to cater to tourists.
This secluded mountain town got their name because they were famous for their moonshine and today they can boast of several very nice wineries, micro-breweries and a distillery. They are located at the entrance to the Beavers Bend Park where everyone migrates. You’ll find quaint shops like Hochatown Swamp Booger Mercantile where you can dive into their fudge buffet and pick up the perfect souvenir.
A local favorite destination is Flawless Wellness Spa, with lots of options for couples, this spa is a must see. They offer such a variety of treatments, you could spend the entire day taking it all in.
To top off the evening, you’ll want to drop by Fish Tales Winery. Linda and her husband Jesse have their own vineyard and makes some amazing muscadine wines. Their hot Mulled Wine hits the spot when it’s a bit cool outside. She recently expanded the winery to include a restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of appetizers to go with your wine selections. Prior to getting into wines, Jesse and Linda owned the Three Rivers Fly Shop at this location. Jesse is known for his fish tales, hence the name.
The trip would not be complete without going on an adventure with Riverman Trail Rides.
We highly recommend the Sweetheart Trail Ride for couples. They take you up a vista for a breathtaking view as you watch the sunset. Then you sit around a campfire sipping wine. Truly the way to spend the perfect evening. If you’re not into horseback riding but want to experience the beauty of the Quachita Mountains overlooking the crystal-clear Glover River, they offer wagon rides. If you are into fishing, this river is known as one of the best fishing spots in the state. Glover River is a private river that’s a mile and a half long and is also a popular spot for birdwatchers and nature photographers.
We hope you can plan a stay in Broken Bow soon. This area is well known as a great family summertime vacation destination, but It’s also the perfect wintertime retreat for a romantic getaway to recharge your batteries. Even though they estimate that there will be 1600 cabins available for rent by summer, if you snooze it becomes almost impossible to find one available. It’s actually a quite nice escape this time of year and you avoid the crowds, plus enjoy off season prices.
