PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that work to repair and replace the bridge rail and metal beam guard fence at the State Loop 286 and US 271 interchange in Paris, Texas, is slated to begin the week of Jan 23.
Highway 19 Construction LLC is completing work on an earlier project valued at more than $3.1 million. The target completion date for this work is late-February 2023.
The contractor will replace and repair the bridge rail and metal beam guard fence on all three bridges carrying southbound traffic at this interchange. The work will extend from Dawn Drive south to the State Loop 286 turn-around and require temporary lane shifts using a concrete barrier. Officials said the project would also need traffic on BU 271 to yield and merge directly with traffic on State Loop 286.
The contractor anticipates setting concrete barriers for this project on Jan 23.
Motorists who frequently travel in this area should pay special attention to all barricades, traffic controls, and signs and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also be prepared to encounter rough pavement and brief traffic delays and avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
