The Dallas Cowboys released defensive tackle Dontari Poe and cornerback Daryl Worley on Wednesday. Dallas reportedly tried to trade the pair but was unsuccessful. When asked whether Poe being the only Cowboys player to kneel during the national anthem contributed to the team’s decision, owner Jerry Jones said it mainly came down to Poe’s weight and a lack of drive.

The Houston Texans are shutting down their facility after a positive player COVID-19 test, the team announced Wednesday. The Texans are currently on their bye week, so there is no immediate danger to the NFL’s schedule. Houston played the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.

Tonight’s Thursday night football game will be Carolina hosting division rival Atlanta.
