With 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico now offering legal sports betting, they are projecting more Americans than ever to bet on the biggest wagering event of the year. Legal American sportsbooks could take an estimated $1.39 billion in bets for Super Bowl LIX (59) between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, according to an annual report from the American Gaming Association (AGA).

Multiple fans told ESPN that the Dallas Mavericks are offering refunds to fans who have canceled season tickets in the wake of the trade that sent superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving said, “It’s still a grieving process” for him and his teammates. He also expressed excitement about finally playing alongside longtime friend Anthony Davis.

Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen (HAY-skuh-nun) underwent knee surgery in New York on Tuesday. His status is classified as “month to month,” possibly leaving a window for him to return late in the regular season or during the playoffs. Last night, the Ducks snapped the Stars five-game winning streak.

The East Texas A&M University football team revealed its 2025 schedule on Tuesday afternoon. The schedule includes five home games in Ernest Hawkins Field at Memorial Stadium. For the second year in a row, the Lions play 12 games during the 2025 season. East Texas A&M plays four non-conference games and eight Southland Conference games this season.

NORTHEAST

NTCC hosted North Central Texas College (NCTC) in a three-game series and came away with a sweep of the Lions. In game one, the Eagles combined for a two-pitcher no-hitter in a 10-0 win, and on day 2, they had back-to-back 6-5 wins to complete the series sweep.

Peyton Holland drove four runs on two hits to lead NTCC Softball 2025 past Hill College Rebels 12-0 on Monday. Holland hit a home run to center field in the third inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the second inning, scoring one.

HIGH SCHOOL

Jonny Louvier announced his resignation Tuesday as the Gladewater Bears’ Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. He had served in the position since 2020 and had a record of 22-22. Louvier said he had accepted a position outside of education. Jermaine Lewis will serve as interim athletic director.
