On Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was asked whether it was crazy to think McCarthy could receive a contract extension after the season. Jones said no, in seventy-five words: “We’ve got a lot of football left.” The Cowboys are 4-7 and snapped a five-game losing streak in Sunday’s win against the Washington Commanders. They play the New York Giants on Thanksgiving, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals and Carolina Panthers. The Cowboys are in third place in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Commanders and have just the Giants and Panthers below them in the conference standings.

According to the MLB Commissioner’s Office Tuesday, the total postseason shares for the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers totaled $477,441, down from the winners in 2022 and 2023. The pool of $129.1 million in the third year of expanded playoffs set a record, topping $107.8 million last year.

Rice announced Tuesday that its new football coach is Scott Abell, who they hired from Davidson. Abell is 47-28 since arriving at Davidson in 2018 and has seven consecutive winning seasons there.

Mere hours after being named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year, East Texas A&M University linebacker Brandon Tucker has been named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award for National Defensive Player of the Year. Tucker (DeSoto) finished the season with the second-most tackles in the country. He was named the SLC Defensive Player of the Year on the first team in all-Southland defense. He had ten or more tackles in all but two games this season.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats invite you to join them at Prim Stadium on Thursday morning at 9:00 as the practice for Alvarado Indians. The Wildcats will take them on in Memorial Stadium in Mesquite on Friday at 7:30 pm. The Booster Club provides coffee and donuts. Star 95.9 will broadcast the game.
