On Tuesday, the Houston Texans waived wide receiver Diontae Johnson as they prepare for their divisional-round playoff game on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Following the Texans’ wild-card playoff victory over the Los Angeles Charges on Saturday, Johnson was visibly upset in the locker room. He was fully dressed and sitting at his locker, frustrated at a lack of playing time and targets.

Jamal Murray scored 32 of his season-high 45 points in the first half and led the Denver Nuggets to a 118-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. Murray easily surpassed his previous season-best of 34 points, scored against Detroit on December 28.

For the first time in nearly 30 years, Iowa State’s women’s basketball team did not make a shot from beyond the arc Tuesday. It ended the Cyclones’ 945-game NCAA-record streak for having at least one 3-pointer in a game.

On Tuesday morning, they named East Texas A&M University soccer graduate midfielder Melissa Storey to the Southland Conference All-Academic team. It is the second year for Storey, from Wear, England, to receive the SLC All-Academic Team honor. The College Sports Communicators selected her to the second-team all-conference this season. She is receiving her graduate degree in business administration.

HIGH SCHOOL

Travis McClain was the head football coach and athletic director (AD) of Bogata’s Rivercrest Rebels football team. He is a Baylor football alum with a podcast and YouTube channel. He is now the head football coach and AD for Mt Vernon Purple Tigers. At Monday night’s board meeting, he replaced Clayton George.
