COVID-19 has postponed Alabama at LSU and Texas A&M at Tennessee football games initially scheduled for Saturday (Nov 14). Both LSU and A&M started to contact tracing and quarantining individuals within their football programs.

South Carolina is the preseason No. 1 in The Associated Press women’s college basketball poll for the first time in school history. UConn is ranked second, Oregon third, and Baylor’s Lady Bears come in No. 4. It marks the 320th straight week the AP’s Top 25 ranked the Lady Bears, the defending NCAA champions after their win in Tampa in 2019.

HIGH SCHOOL

Gatesville ISD is temporarily canceling classes and all extracurricular activities, including Gatesville High School’s football playoff game Friday night against Carthage in Athens. After recording just 17 cases of the virus, 12 involving students and five involving staff, since classes resumed on Aug 13, the district now has 31 actives, 17 of them at the high school, 11 of which include students. The Carthage Bulldogs advance to the Area round.

The road to the state championships in football begins this across Texas and ends at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. For the most part, the times for games look the same, but the 6A and 5A state title games will not occur until January of 2021.
