BOWLS

Sophomore signal-caller Casey Thompson came off the bench and passed for 170 yards and four touchdowns. No. 20 Texas overcame Sam Ehlinger’s injury to beat Colorado 55-23 in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Tuesday night.

They canceled the 2020 Mercari (mer-CAR-ee) Texas Bowl due to COVID-19 cases within the TCU football program. ESPN Events and Lone Star Sports Entertainment made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. This year’s Texas Bowl featured TCU and Arkansas.

And then there was the Cheez-It Bowl last night. Oklahoma State claimed the win over Miami 37-34. At the end of the game, team players sneaked around with a big ice-cold container and dumped Cheez-Its on their coach. He said at his age he like that better.

Wednesday’s games feature Wake Forest and Wisconsin a noon in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, The Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic has Oklahoma and Florida at 8:00 pm out of AT&T Stadium.

North Lamar took control of the Sulphur Springs Lady Cat’s game in the second half and claimed a 41-30 victory.

The game between Sulphur Springs Wildcats and the Greenville Lions was going smooth until the half. That was when Principal Jarret Wilson informed everyone that the game was over because of COVID-19 concerns. So, Sulphur Springs gets half a win, 33-22. Is it 2021 yet?
