The Texas A&M University-Commerce men’s indoor track and field team remains ranked seventh nationally in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) rating index.
The Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team is ranked 10th nationally in the WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches’ Poll, the first coaches’ poll released in the 2020-21 season. The Lions are 8-1 overall in the 2020-21 season and received 305 points. It is the first coaches’ poll released in March of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Jack Miller, Jr., LeTourneau junior Jack Miller (Diana, Texas) won the pole vault at the Shocker Invitational, clearing 4.62 meters (15 ft.-1.75 in.). His mark leads all of NCAA Division III, earning his fourth career Athlete of the Week award.

Northeast Texas Community College Rodeo was back in the saddle this weekend to start the 2021 semester with a Rodeo hosted by Texas A&M University-Commerce. Hopkins County Civic Center held the event in Sulphur Springs. Garrett Fields was a bright spot for the Eagles with earning a seventh-place finish in Steer wrestling.
The Eagle’s softball team is at Hill College today with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Thursday’s game is at Arkansas Rich Mountain, and their home games start Saturday.
HIGH SCHOOL
Linden-Kildare CISD announced Tuesday via Facebook that they were hiring a new athletic director and head football coach. Kyle Freeman, best known for his time with the Houston Oilers when he was a 7th round draft pick, started coaching after his playing career was cut short by an injury. Freeman has served as co-defensive coordinator in Edna, Texas. Before 2021, he was the head football coach and athletic director at Ozona for four seasons. The Ozona team that had previously not made it to the playoffs in several years made playoffs every year under Freeman’s leadership.
