The North East Texas Travelers 30th Annual Rod Run is  this weekend in Paris. Events get underway tonight on the Plaza with live entertainment. Saturday and Sunday events continue at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds.  Events go on rain or shine, and there are cash grand prizes in multiple categories.  Awards are at 11:00 am Sunday, and you must be present to win.

The aroma of fresh roasted Hatch chiles is expected to permeate the Farmers Market downtown Paris, Texas! Saturday September 3rd from 8am until 1pm. The experience of roasting hatch chile peppers is very detailed, and the public is invited to attend and learn more about the Hatch Chiles that are a huge part of the culture of the southwest!

Vendors Ron Preusse and Mike Head will bring their chili roasters and will be grilling chiles up selling them fresh that day. Main Street volunteers will grill up slider sized Chile Burgers, made with items found from local market vendors such as Paris Bakery providing fresh made buns. The sliders will make a great light snack, and will be available while supplies last, donations accepted.

Entertainment by Mariachi Quetzal, a mariachi band from Denton, Texas will add to the Southwestern themed day!

Other events throughout the day include chile themed items from participating vendor tables and kid’s activities!

The Slow Roll is a slow and exciting bicycle ride in Paris, Texas. People of all ages and skill levels are able to participate. Just bring your bike, and have fun! The next Slow Roll is Monday, September 5th at 6:15pm. The starting location will be at the Paris Cancer Center Parking Lot (3550 NE Loop 286).
