Free Community Health Clinic Day for ages 18 and up Saturday October 15th from 9am till noon at PrimeTime Activity Center 1128 Clarksville Street.  Free health screenings, adult immunization. Doctors, nurses and other health professionals will be there to answer your concerns. Community agencies also on hand to answer questions and give information. Free car seat checks by certified technicians. Bring your old eyeglasses to be recycled and give to someone in need. Also you can take your unwanted medications for proper disposal.  Sponsored by St. Joseph’s Community Foundation, Legacy Foundation, Texas Department of State Health Services and other community partners including the Paris Lamar County Health District.

Brush With Kindness – Friday and Saturday October 14th and 15th at 1680 W. Campbell.  Scraping and priming are done on Friday, beginning at 8 a.m.  Actual painting is done on Saturday, also beginning at 8 a.m.  Some certain jobs may require only a one-day effort. The North Lamar Education Foundation is bringing back its annual ‘Tailgating for Scholarships’ to raise money for North Lamar graduating seniors.  In its sixth year, the event will take place Saturday, October 15 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Love Civic Center.  

 

Tickets for the event may be purchased at any North Lamar campus, the administration building, or by calling 903.715.0071.  Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for students.  At the door, tickets will be $25 and $15.

The Powderly Volunteer Fire Department is  hosting a BBQ Benefit on Oct 15th From 5-8 at the Lamar County Fairgrounds.  It’s to benefit one of their firefighters who recently lost his home to a fire. $10 at the door. Children 6 and under admission is free. Diaper Drive-Bring a package of diapers, any size for a chance to win a door prize! ALL YOU CAN EAT BBQ! BBQ, SIDES, TRIMMINGS, DRINK AND DESSERT!

12th Annual Roxton Saturday Night October 15th 12:30-10:00 p.m. Downtown Roxton. It’s a Salute to Vietnam Veterans. Live afternoon entertainment by Ronnie Duke. Vendors food, games, exhibits and cash drawings! Fun for the whole family at no charge. Plus free evening concert by Stacy Musgrove & band.

The Detroit Fall Fest is happening Saturday October 15th from 9am till 3pm rain or shine the Detroit Tabernacle. There’s a dress your pet contest, games, bounce house and over 20 vendors plus a chance to win some great prizes. Fun for the whole family! Detroit Fall Fest is sponsored by LMC Drive Group.

The First Annual Paris Police Officer Association’s Varmint Hunt is coming up October 15th starting at noon until noon on the 16th. Entry fee is $100 per team, two people per team. It happens in Lamar County and surrounding areas. All TPWD rules and regulations must be followed. No trapping. Scoring and awards will be on the 16th at 2pm at the Lamar County Courthouse.
