Weekend Happenings Around Paris August 9th

 

Dylan’s Drivers provides a safe and reliable service within Lamar County, Texas, by providing free, non-judgemental, confidential rides to individuals who are rendered incapable of or lack access to safe transportation. Their hours of operation are Thursday be from 10:00 pm to 12:00 am, Friday and Saturday nights from 10:00 pm until 3:00 am. Call 903.905.4959

Adopt a pet today- give a dog or cat a forever home! Head over to the Paris Animal Shelter or look for the Lamar County Humane Association in front of Petco on Saturdays. And if you have a pet, have them spayed or neutered.

Bring the family to the Paris Farmers and Artisan Market for a Saturday morning of fun and great vendors!  8am-1pm.

At the Paris Library: Red River Valley Fair Reading Club registration is ongoing for Ages 5 – 17. Register, complete  12 hours of reading or 15 books, and earn free passes and coupons for the Red River Valley Fair in Paris. Keep track of your reading time  or titles on the special log provided at registration and turn it in to Tracy on or before Friday, August 30.

The United Way of Lamar County’s Stuff the Bus school supply drive will begin next week and continue through August 9. Supplies may be dropped off at the United Way office at 2340 Lamar Avenue or at partner businesses, which are listed on our news website. (Lamar National Bank, Everett Toyota of Paris, Quality Care ER, HWH, Days Inn of Paris, Hampton Inn, Red River Valley Federal Credit Union, First Federal Community Bank and South Main Iron.)  Call 903-784-6642 for more information.

North East Texas Jeepers presents a Hot Wheels Roundup. They are collecting hot wheels and small toys for our first responders in Lamar county to give to children in stressful times.

They will be setup at:

August 9th at Burgerland from 4:30pm-8pm

August 10th at Wing Stop from 8am-6pm. That day they’ll have a DJ and a raffle at 4pm (must be present to win). Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00

Paris Optimist Fall Baseball Registration Saturday August 10th from 10am till 1pm at the Charles Taylor Complex at Woodall. Registration fees are $45 for 5-6 years old and $55 for 7-14 year olds. League age is as of April 30th 2020. Sign up and enjoy the fun of playing baseball with your friends. Girls are invited to play baseball also players from other communities are invited.

Come out for Kim’s Crazy Fight Benefit and help beat cancer Sunday August 11th from noon till 5pm at the Elk’s Lodge in Paris. Sadly Kim has passed. They will still be there on Sunday to help cover medical expenses. Come out and enjoy a fish fry dinner with all the fixins. There will also be live music and an auction.
