TRAVEL INFORMATION CENTER TO HOLD WORK ZONE AWARENESS EVENT FOR MOTORISTS

Texarkana event to feature rollover convincer, impairment goggles

WHEN

Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 10 am until 2 pm.

WHERE:

Texas Travel Information Center, 1200 W. I-30, Texarkana

WHAT:

National Work Zone Awareness Week event for motorists

ATLANTA — Texarkana’s Travel Information Center will host a safety event on Tuesday, April 18, to educate everyone in Texas about the importance of driving safely through work zones.

The event, to be held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, will also educate travelers about the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

Impairment goggles, which provide a visual experience of the dangers and realities of drunk driving, will be featured to encourage safe driving habits. A rollover convincer will also show motorists what can happen in a crash when people do not properly wear seat belts.

Most crashes are preventable, and driver education is part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s goal to end the streak of daily deaths on Texas roadways. There hasn’t been a deathless day on Texas roads since November 7, 2000. #EndTheStreakTX is a social media, grassroots, and word-of-mouth effort to encourage safe driving habits.
