What Is A Blue Alert?

A blue alert is sent to rapidly disseminate information to law enforcement agencies, the media and the public to aid in the  apprehension of violent criminals who have killed or injured an officer in the line of duty. They can also be issued when a suspect  poses an imminent threat to law enforcement or an officer is  missing. Currently there are 35 states with Blue Alert Plans. The alert received yesterday was regarding a Houston area police officer was killed Wednesday night.
