• What’s happening at Texas’ border? Under the federal government’s policy of “zero tolerance,” about 2,000 children have been separated from their parents. Now there is another legal hurdle. The DOJ has acknowledged they can’t detain children for more than 20 days, with or without their parents. Now, the Trump administration will stop prosecuting migrant parents who cross the border illegally with children. The dramatic about-face comes just one day after President Trump signed an executive order ending his administration’s widely denounced practice of separating families.

• The House GOP unveils a plan to balance the budget by cutting Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. It is what the Koch Brothers have been pushing for with Constitutional Convention talk. Lawmakers widely agree that spending that is not subject to the appropriations process is becoming unsustainable, mostly because of the tax cut.
