WHO Designates Monkeypox A Global Emergency

The World Health Organization has declared that the expanding monkeypox outbreak in more than 70 countries will now be a global emergency. The Texas Department of State Health Services reports the number of monkeypox cases is more than 180 in our state and at least 42 in North Texas. All but three of those cases involve men. Monkeypox is spread primarily through direct, prolonged contact with infectious lesions, scabs, or body fluids.
