The arctic blast that hit last week brought snow from the Panhandle to the border. Still, energy consultant Alison Silverstein says it was nothing compared to the previous year’s winter storm Uri, which shut down the state, leading to the death of about 250 people. The former senior adviser to the Public Utility Commission says they winterized power plants and survived last week’s storm. But she says they have not upgraded the natural gas system to handle a freeze, and it was the single biggest problem during the winter storm, Uri.
