Wood County Constable Appears In Federal Court

A trial is underway for Wood County Precinct 2 Constable Kelly Smith, a Federal grand jury indicted for an alleged deprivation of rights under color of law. Smith allegedly ordered his K9 to bite a suspect after immobilizing the person. The indictment stated the suspect was unnecessarily injured. Prosecutors said they also intend to prove that Smith falsified documents when he attempted to cover up his actions.
