Wood County Man Guilty Of Shootings

A 65-year-old Quitman man has been convicted by a Wood County jury of shooting two oil workers who were trying to get on the then-sheriff James Brown’s land to have access to an oil well. Jerry Wayne Boone was found guilty on two counts of second-degree aggravated assault. A jury will determine his punishment. Former sheriff Brown and one of his deputies, William Tucker, are charged in connection with their investigation of the case.
