East Texas Senator Introduces Voter Integrity Bill

East Texas State Sen. Bryan Hughes of Mineola filed an Election Integrity bill that, if passed, could remove names from the voter rolls and restrict who can vote by mail. Hughes said how many non-citizens might be on the Texas voter rolls remains uncertain. Each county currently maintains its database of voters. Democrats argue this legislation is intended to limit turnout and is not needed in Texas after state leaders agreed that elections ran smoothly in 2020.
