Couple Charged With Stealing $70K In Scratch-Offs

Authorities arrested a Mabank couple for allegedly stealing $70,000 in Texas Lottery scratch-off tickets from a Payne Springs convenience store. Police say 52-year-old Jay Dieken worked at Cedar Lake Mart and would activate the tickets while at work and throw them away. Helping her clean up, 42-year-old Jimmy Lee Nixon would take the scratched off tickets home in a trash bag. The pair then cashed in the tickets at other area stores. They were charged with felony theft, and released from jail on $5,000 bond each.
