Curfews For Minors No Longer Legal

Under a new Texas law now in effect, cities and counties can no longer enforce curfews for minors. Brett Merfish, director of youth justice at Texas Appleseed, said research shows that curfews are ineffective at reducing crime and end up doing more harm than good. Studies show Black and Hispanic children are often disproportionately targeted. Under the new law, cities with existing curfew ordinances must repeal them.
