North Lamar ISD Ranked Among Top School Districts

NL 1

Paris, TX, [February 26, 2016] – Teachers work hard every day and the more support they have, the better they can succeed in inspiring our future. This job is why Teacher.org has ranked school districts across the U.S. on how well they support teachers. They believe that teachers encourage our future, and to achieve better that goal, they strongly feel that teachers need the best help they can get.

Analyzed were four hundred and nineteen school districts in Texas with the top 50 school districts recognized for their achievement. The school districts received scores of several factors which represent how well a school district supports their teachers. North Lamar Independent School District in Paris, Texas, was ranked 13th.

“It is a great honor for our district,” said NLISD Superintendent John McCullough. “We appreciate recognition for the hard work that our teachers do in the classroom every day.”

The rankings are the combined score of three equally common areas. The first is class size. The higher the overall student-teacher ratio, the less able a teacher is to focus on each student’s needs. The second area is administrator and support staff availability to teachers for all classroom and teaching needs. The third and final area measures student Reading/Language Arts and Math proficiency levels on state examinations, which provides insight into the overall learning environment provided by the school district for pupils in the community. By analyzing and scoring these three areas, Teacher.org can offer an overall ranking of school districts in each state.

Commenting on the ranking criteria, McCullough said, “We are striving to keep our student-to-teacher ratio low and provide our teachers with what they need to be successful in the classroom. We have an incredibly talented group of teachers in North Lamar, and they work hard every day to build relationships with our students. Also, they help unlock the potential of each student by encouraging them to learn in a way that develops their abilities, strengths, and interest. Again, it is a great honor to know that what we are doing here in North Lamar is being recognized by others in the profession.”
