Corvette Club Sponsoring Sulphur Springs Fan Drive For Senior Citizens
Jun 11 @ 11:43 am – Jun 22 @ 12:43 pm

It is starting to really heat up outside and I have had a few calls from Seniors who need a fan to help keep them cool this Summer. I am starting the Summer Fan Drive on June 11th and will continue it until June 22nd. If you would like to Donate a NEW Box Fan or a NEW Oscillating Fan to the Seniors in Hopkins County just bring them in to the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center located at 150 Martin Luther King Blvd. I would like to get at least 100 Fans to donate this year. If you don’t want to go shop for a Fan and would just like to donate some cash then we can go purchase the fans for you. Some of the retailers will give us a break in the cost of the fans if we buy a lot of them at one time. I will be Partnering Up with the Corvette Club for the 3rd time. They are a wonderful group of people who care about their Community and the People who live in it.

We have a lot of fun and educational programs and events scheduled for June. The park will conduct ranger-led hikes summiting Iron Hill which winds through the “Cathedral of the Trees” to one of the highest points in East Texas as night falls. Also during June, you will have a chance to fish with a Ranger, paddle boarding classes with a Ranger exploring the lake (free with paid park entrance permit), aquatic nature program where visitors net and help identify underwater life plus have fun making nature art scheduled for kids at heart. To bring each fun-packed Saturday to a fitting conclusion, we will host a Dance with classics from our vintage jukebox from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The first Saturday night of the month will be our Karaoke Dance.

On Saturday (Jun 30), Daingerfield State Park will be hosting our Second Annual Freedom Fest in honor of our Nation’s birthday, which will include a 5K Race, Dutch oven cooking contest, booths, scavenger hunts and finish the evening with live music featuring “Hurry Up & Wait” playing classic country and rock classics till 11:00 pm at the historic Pavilion under the stars! Rent a paddle boat, kayak, canoe, paddleboard or one of our newly motorized fishing boats! Bring a picnic and enjoy the awe-inspiring views from our day-use area. Fish off our pier where visitors had many nice record catches. They commonly catch crappie, bluegill, bass, catfish, and chain pickerel.
