Senator Bryan Hughes
The Texas Senate committee on state affairs has approved Senator Bryan Hughes’s “fetal heartbeat” bill to outlaw some elective abortions in Texas. The bill would ban all elective abortions as soon as you can detect a fetus’ heart, typically around six weeks. The bill will now go to the full Texas Senate for a vote. After that, it goes to the Texas House and the governor’s desk before becoming law. Senator Hughes district includes a large portion of East Texas, including Lamar, Franklin, Red River, Camp, Cass, Morris, Titus, Upshur, and Wood.
