Trial To Start In Hopkins County Cattle Seizures

Jury selection begins today in Hopkins County Court of Law for a trial to determine custody of about 600 cattle seized by the SPCA and Hopkins County deputies. The animals were allegedly malnourished and neglected. The trial will determine if the cattle will be sold at auction, or returned to their owner, George Lawrence Bergin. Charges of abuse of livestock animals against Bergin will not be affected by the trial.
